Our work with charities
The London Eye regularly supports a number of organisations, through cash and ticket donations, site collections and also by taking part in the Group’s annual ‘Magic for Kids’ day, with fundraising and entertainment on site. There is a dedicated staff team called ‘Eye Society’ that raises money a variety of charities, doing everything from staff cake sales to climbing Kilimanjaro.
The London Eye has been central to many charity campaigns since opening in 2000, for example launching ‘The Big One’ for Comic Relief 2007. A host of celebrities including the Sugababes, Girls Aloud, Russell Brand, Davina McCall and Lenny Henry gathered at the London Eye to kick off the campaign.
The London Eye also works with the NSPCC, The Starlight Children’s Foundation, Make a Wish Foundation and the Willow Foundation. As well as supporting architectural charities, Maggies’ and Open House for their annual events each year.
The London Eye has hosted full wheel events for several sight based charities as part of our ‘Flight for Sight’ programme.
The London Eye is pleased to announce that this year's Flight For Sight Programme has been awarded to Action for Blind People. This organisation had been running for more than 150 years and is the third largest sight loss charity in the UK. They work with over 24,000 people every year to save and preserve sight. We are looking forward to supporting the charities mission which is: to inspire change and create opportunities to enable blind and partially sighted people to have equal voice and equal choice.
