EDF Energy London Eye Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

With the excitement surrounding the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the EDF Energy London Eye is inviting guests to London’s most iconic landmark to join in the capital’s finest street party over the bank holiday period.

The street party will celebrate the most iconic moments in Britain since the Queen’s coronation in 1952 with onsite decorations and themed musical dance performances bringing to life Her Majesty’s reigning years.

Union Jack bunting and flags will add to the patriotic theme, as well as the opportunity to spot a few familiar look-a-likey faces from the past six decades, whilst younger visitors will be offered a free crown or flags*.

There will be plenty to do at the popular London attraction during the extended Diamond Jubilee period. From Friday 1st June until Sunday 10th June, guests can pose for a photo in one of the onsite themed picture boards .

For those who wish to be transported back to the year of the Queen’s coronation, guests can set sail on the London Eye Barracuda for the 1952 Jubilee Tea Party on Monday 4th June. On the, cruise visitors can indulge in a glass of Pommery Brut Royal Champagne, a selection of teas and a variety of tea time treats from a bespoke Diamond Jubilee menu.

Alternatively, guests can choose to enjoy a quintessentially British experience on the London Eye’s Afternoon Tea Capsule, available for the first time as individual tickets, as well as a private capsule. The Afternoon Tea Capsule offers guests a variety of delicious sandwiches, freshly baked scones and scrumptious cakes, served by the host with a selection of teas, coffee and fruit juices.

To further celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the London Eye will be giving away 60 free Standard Tickets on each of the four bank holiday dates. For further details about the competitions and to be in with the chance of being one of the lucky winners, participants will need to check the London Eye’s Facebook and Twitter pages on the week commencing Monday 21st May 2012.

For those who are yet to visit the EDF Energy London Eye in 2012, they will find a new in-capsule experience aboard the London Eye. Every capsule now features a state of the art Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 device, displaying bespoke content, which during the Diamond Jubilee period, will host additional information about landmarks specific to the Queen’s 60 year reign. The interactive touch screen guides enhance the guest’s experience as they take in the spectacular views from the world’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel.
