Get closer to the sunshine on the EDF Energy London Eye

12 Jun 2012

The London Eye

The great British summer has started, which is great news for those spending time in the capital over the next few months. The EDF Energy London Eye is providing the perfect spot on the South Bank by offering a great range of seasonal experiences for visitors to enjoy whilst basking in the sunshine.

To cater for the number of expected visitors to London during the greatest sporting event in the world, the EDF Energy London Eye will also be opening two hours later than usual this summer. For the first time in twelve years, visitors can take in the panoramic views of the city from 10am to midnight, when the dazzling lights of London shine, each night from Friday 27th July - Sunday 12th August.

London Eye Champagne Experience

What better way to spend the summer than sipping bubbly on London’s most iconic landmark? Guests are invited to book individual tickets or a private capsule for a Champagne Experience to enjoy a chilled flute of Pommery Brut Royal Champagne, served by the host, as guests relax and take in the views of the capital.

This summer, the EDF Energy London Eye introduces the London Eye Barracuda, the beautiful vintage river cruiser complete with Art Deco interior styling. Located in the heart of London’s South Bank, the London Eye Barracuda Bar and Restaurant is a perfect venue for lunches and drinks. Ideal for nibbles and refreshing summer drinks or for those wanting a three course meal, guests can expect to enjoy gourmet cuisine in a luxurious setting.

London Eye River Cruise

The London Eye Barracuda is available for individual bookings, as well as private hire, allowing visitors to take in the impressive summer sights from a different perspective on the River Thames. Enjoy the sunshine under the open-top roof or lounge in style below deck in the restaurant.

Sun-loving guests can also enjoy the London Eye River Cruise, which offers the sights of London’s South Bank from the water. Visitors can relax upon the boat’s deck on the 40 minute circular sightseeing cruise, whilst listening to fascinating live commentary from specialist guides that bring the history of the Thames and its surroundings to life.

The London Eye - interactive guides

For those who are yet to visit the EDF Energy London Eye in 2012, they will find a new in-capsule experience aboard the London Eye. Every capsule now features a state of the art Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 device, displaying bespoke content. The interactive touch screen guides enhance the guest’s experience as they take in the spectacular views from the world’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel.

With every ticket purchased, visitors also get free entry into the EDF Energy London Eye 4D Experience. The experience showcases a film containing the first ever 3D aerial photography over London, as well as live effects such as wind, snow and bubbles, for a truly four dimensional experience.
