London Eye wins Group Travel Award
26 Jun 2012
The Group Travel Awards are the annual celebration of the very best suppliers to the group travel industry.
Each year the readers of Group Travel Organiser magazine are asked to vote for who they think are the best suppliers in more than 20 categories. From the pre-visit information and transport to get the group there to where groups stay and what they visit when they get there, all aspects of putting together group trips are covered.
The 2012 results were announced as part of gala evening of entertainment on Friday 15th June at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel, London. Hosted by travel journalist Simon Calder and attended by 400 key members of the travel trade, winners were not notified before the event and did not know they had won until the golden envelope was opened on the stage.
The EDF Energy London Eye won the Group Travel Award for Best Attraction for Group Visits – Short Visit, beating strong competition from St Paul’s Cathedral in London, Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, The Household Calvary Museum in London, The Houses of Parliament in London, West Somerset Railway in Somerset and Windsor Castle in Berkshire.
London was also voted the Best UK Destination for Groups.
Helen Bull, Marketing Director for the London Eye, said 'This recognises the excellent facilities that we offer for groups as an attraction as well as the customer service on the ground when welcoming the many groups throughout the year.'
