London, 2 July 2008
To mark its fifth fabulous year as the UK biggest free Pride event, Pride London has joined forces with the London Eye to bring a visual spectacle to the banks of the Thames.
From Thursday 03 July onwards, for three nights only, the London Eye will be illuminated in the colours of the pride rainbow flag, in homage to the 40 year anniversary of its creation. The effect will be best seen at about 10pm every night so make sure you head down to the banks of the Thames.
Pride London, a registered charity, is the capital’s annual gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender cultural festival. The climax of the festival on 30 June 2007 attracted over 460,000 visitors.
David Drury, Marketing and Communications Manager for Pride London said “What better way to kick of this year’s celebrations than lighting up one of London’s most iconic landmarks in the Pride colours. It’s great to see that London is as excited as we are about this year’s event.”
David Sharpe, Managing Director for The London Eye said "Pride London is a great London event, celebrating London's diversity and what better way to show our support than by turning the London Eye all the colours of the rainbow."
