Red Bull Revolutions in Sound
26 Sep 2011
Taking over the iconic EDF Energy London Eye on Thursday 13th October, Red Bull Music Academy presents “Revolutions in Sound” – the World’s first music festival in the sky.
The event will see 30 capsules on the London Eye become individual gig spaces, presenting the capital’s signature sounds and home-grown talent for a one-night-only festival.
Featuring a spread of acts from the past, present and future, Revolutions in Sound is pleased to add more names to the bill, including: Tottenham golden boy Wretch 32, grime star Kano, Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard under his 2 Bears moniker, Bestival curator Rob da Bank and reggae/punk icon Don Letts.
They’ll join acts already announced namely dubstep pioneers Skream and Benga with Sgt Pokes, DJ legend Goldie, gentleman rudeboy David Rodigan, Roller Express featuring BBC Radio 1’s Toddla T & Redlight alongside a host of the capital’s top record labels, club nights and collectives.
In addition to the 30 capsule gigs, the landscape at the base of the London Eye will feature a “Silent Disco” with guests being able listen via headphones to feeds from the capsules and performances on ground level.
Free tickets for the capsules and silent disco will be available via www.redbull.co.uk/RevolutionsinSound from 10.00am Thursday 22nd September 2011.
Fans will be able to choose which capsule they would like to attend with a limited number of unsuccessful capsule applicants winning tickets to the silent disco. Ticket hopefuls will be alerted whether they have been successful on Thursday 29 September.
In what will be one of the EDF Energy London Eye’s most ambitious events to date, audio from each of the 30 gigs will be streamed live on the web. So, even if they are not lucky enough to be there, fans can tune in and take their pick of the action via www.redbullmusicacademy.com/worldtour/london.
