The London Eye voted UKinbound Attraction of the Year for 2007

The annual UKinbound Awards were announced this morning during the first full day of the trade association’s 2008 Convention being held in Torquay.

The London Eye was honoured as Visitor Attraction of the Year 2007, European Travel Services scooped Tour Operator of the Year 2007, and Meliá White House who won Hotel of the Year 2007.

David Sharpe, Managing Director of The London Eye said: "The London Eye is absolutely delighted to have been voted the UKinbound Attraction of the Year for 2007. With so many quality visitor experiences in the UK, the London Eye team is extremely proud of this accolade."

John Martin Company Secretary for UKinbound said: “This award recognises The London Eye as an iconic London landmark. It’s a huge asset to our industry and a must-see for visitors to the capital.”

The award for Tour Operator of the Year was presented to Jim Brown Managing Director of European Travel Services, he said: “We are incredibly honoured to win this award for the third year running. My thanks really must go to our team who have worked extremely hard and to our suppliers whose support is invaluable to our continuing success.”
Philip Green, Chairman of UKinbound said: “By winning for the third consecutive year, European Travel Services has shown that consistency in quality, service and innovation are factors that members want to recognise. It’s a truly tremendous achievement.”

Katia Sadchikova, Assistant Director of Sales at Meliá White House, who picked up the award for Hotel of the Year 2007, said: “On behalf of the entire team at the Meliá White House we would like to say a huge thank you to UKinbound for this prestigious and special award. We trust that this is the token of appreciation of the quality and service that we always strive to deliver to our respected guests at the hotel.”
Stephen Dowd chief executive of UKinbound said: “Meliá White House near Regents Park is a hugely popular hotel and a deserving winner of this award. They have shown how important state-of-the-art conference and business facilities are for visitors to the capital.”

The Awards, presented this year by former Tourism Minister Lord Lee of Trafford, are voted for by members of UKinbound.
