Ice Rink FAQs

What are the opening times and dates for the ice rink?

Opening Dates: 27th November 2013 to 5th January 2013 inclusive
Opening Times 10am to 9pm (last skate 9pm)
Skate Session: 45 minutes
Capacity: 125 people per session

This excludes Christmas Day. The last skating session is 5pm on Christmas Eve and 3pm on New Years Eve.

When should I arrive for the ice skating?

Please arrive with your tickets at least 15 minutes before your booked skating time to allow for skate fitting.

How long does each ice skating session last?

Each skating session lasts for 45 minutes. Guests who arrive late will only be allowed on the ice rink until the session ends.

Are ice skates provided and am I allowed to use my own?

Ice skates are included in the ticket price. Our ice rink team will maintain the available ice skates on a daily basis to ensure they are kept to a sound operational standard.
Guests are allowed to bring their own ice skates to skate in.

What sizes do skates come in?

Skates are provided in all sizes from junior size 11 to adult size 13. No half sizes are available. Bobskates are available for younger children (please note children under 4 years old are not permitted on the ice).

Is there a minimum height or age restriction?

There is no minimum height restriction.

Children from the age of four upwards are eligible to skate. All children under the age of 8 years need to be accompanied on the ice at all times by an adult over 18 years, and will be considered within the care and at the risk of the adult. Children between the ages of 8 years and 15 years will need to have an adult over 18 years present at the ice rink, but not necessarily on the ice.

Is there a senior or under 4 ticket?

No. Children under the age of 4 years are not permitted on the ice.

Is there a family ticket and who does it cover?

There is a family ticket available. The price is based on individual ticket prices for 2 adults and 2 children over the age of 4 years.

Is there a place to leave my bag, coats etc. while I am skating?

We allow guests to leave small bags and belongings inside skate exchange alongside their shoes.
The London Eye Company Ltd accepts no responsibility for the loss, theft or damage to any personal belongings.
No loose items can be taken onto the ice rink.

Can I purchase an ice skating ticket without any other products?

Yes. Please note that guests wishing to combine their Eyeskate session with an experience which includes the consumption of alcohol, you would need to take your Eyeskate session first. Any guests believed to have consumed alcohol will not be permitted on the ice.

Can I add skating tickets to a booking I have already made?

Yes. Please call our booking line on +44 (0)871 781 3000 (calls cost 10p per minute plus network extras) daily between 9.00am and 5.00pm to add the tickets to your booking.

Can I purchase ice skating tickets on the day?

Yes, but this is subject to availability.

Can I purchase an ice skating ticket if I purchase tickets for the London Eye River Cruise?

Yes.

What happens if I miss my allocated timeslot?

Ice skating tickets are non refundable and non exchangeable, so please ensure you are there in plenty of time to avoid disappointment.
The ice skating is an outdoor event and no refunds will be given due to inclement weather.
In the unlikely event that the London Eye Duty Manager deems it necessary to close the ice rink, alternative sessions will be offered for skating, subject to availability. If no further sessions are available, a refund for the ice skate ticket will be given.

What if it is raining?

The London Eye ice rink is an outdoor event and can operate in nearly all weather conditions. Rain should not affect the ice skating but in the unlikely event that the London Eye Duty manager deems it necessary to close the ice rink, alternative sessions will be offered for skating, subject to availability, which may be on a different day. If no further sessions are available, a refund for the ice skate ticket will be given.

What should I wear?

We recommend you wear seasonal warm outdoor clothing, gloves and you will need to provide your own socks.
Guests are not allowed to bring their own ice skates to skate in.

What if I lose something whilst I am at the Ice Rink?

All lost property will be handed to the London Eye Security team for safe keeping. Please speak to our team members to enquire about lost property.

I am a wheelchair user, can I book to skate on the ice?

Wheelchair users are welcome on the ice. You will need to be accompanied by a carer who will be able to skate free of charge. Visitors with wheelchairs must be accompanied by their carer at all times. To book tickets please call the booking line on +44 (0)871 222 0188 (calls cost 10p per minute plus network extras).

Does my Merlin Annual Pass or Merlin Premium Annual Pass include access to the ice skating?

There is no access to the Ice Rink included within the Merlin Standard Annual Pass or the Merlin Premium Annual Pass, however, Merlin Annual Pass holders can purchase exclusively discounted tickets The price of these tickets depends on the date and time of your visit.

What happens if the ice rink is closed?

What are seal skate aids and can I prebook them?

Seal skate aids are aids designed to help young children gain confidence with their first steps onto the ice. There are a limited supply of seal skate aids, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis. It is not possible to book these in advance.
