Eye on London - Get Your Health Kicks
- Monday January 2nd 2017
London from the inside Monday 2nd January - Sunday 8th January 2017
Of course it’s a cliché and of course our resolutions will probably be forgotten about in a few days but it does seem like a good time of year to make some life decisions and start detoxing. Consider trying to just change one thing, or making a resolution with a difference… maybe you could resolve to pet more dogs in 2017, meditate outdoors, or instead of the normal running or gym joining, take up chess boxing!
FIND YOUR THING (AND STICK TO IT)
You’re more likely to stick to something if you are doing it in order to find meaning in life, for self-esteem or to achieve a personal goal than if you’re doing something for weight loss or social recognition. We asked some London Eye revellers, fresh from their revolution, their ideas for a good resolution…
“Start a blog”
“Get your work-life balance tilting more towards life”
“Start your own business”
“Write a book”
“Do (more) yoga”
“Learn a language”
“Do something that scares you”
“Learn to code”
“Volunteer some of your time”
“Travel to somewhere you’ve always wanted to go”
GET YOUR HEALTH KICKS
- Chessboxing - the hybrid sport of chess and boxing, no really. “London Chessboxing welcomes applications from anyone who would like to try competitive chessboxing. Experience and starting ability not important.”
- Try being vegan for a week - it’s a challenge and a sure fire way to learn some new veg packed recipes. It gives you a good excuse to try some vegan restaurants too like 222 Veggie Vegan in West Kensington, Manna in Primrose Hill and Mildreds Soho.
- Run in the park - there’s nothing simpler than finding a chafe free outfit and putting one foot in front of the other. It doesn’t matter how fast you go or how many times you stop.

EYE ON… KENSINGTON AND CHELSEA
There are 32 capsules on The Coca-Cola London Eye, representing the 32 London boroughs, so each week we explore a different London borough.
The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) is the smallest borough in London and one of the most densely populated areas in the whole of the UK. It’s home to the Saatchi Gallery, the Royal Albert Hall, Earl’s Court and the Notting Hill Carnival.
Best pub: The Churchill Arms
Best breakfast: Cafe Phillies
Best coffee: Chairs and Coffee
Best curry: Zaika
Best shop: Harrods
Best fact: The borough has a motto of Quam Bonum in Unum Habitare meaning 'what a good thing it is to dwell in unity'.
ON THIS DAY… 7th January 1965
The Kray twins are arrested at the Glenrae Hotel and remanded in custody on a menace charge.
If you’re coming to visit us in January please bear in mind we’ll be shut for our annual maintenance from 9th-24th January (inclusive) but the River Cruise will still be open.
