As the capsule reached the highest point of the rotation, overlooking the River Thames and with Big Ben in the background, Jagan asked Natasha the question just as the sun was setting over the capital.

To mark the London Eye’s Valentines offers and celebrate the 5000th proposal, The London Eye have given the lucky couple a complementary Cupid’s Capsule on the date of their proposal every year so they can come back and relive the special occasion.

Since opening there have now been 5000 proposals (that we know of), 512 weddings, 22 civil partnerships, and 1.5million glasses of Champagne consumed on the London Eye – one of the most romantic locations in the world.

Natasha Palmer, 30 gushed; ‘I am still a little bit shocked to be honest, I never expected to be proposed to on the London Eye, it was quite amazing as we had our own capsule, Champagne and then Jay popped the question. There was only ever going to be one answer!’

Jagan Rao, 30 commented; ‘I wanted somewhere memorable to pop the question and thought where better than while looking over the city we met in. I contacted the London Eye to book and was told ours would be the 5000th proposal and would I like to make it even more special with a free private capsule to ourselves, roses, Champagne and photographs of the day. It was great to see Natasha’s face!’

Leah Larkin, spokesperson for the London Eye said, ‘With the 5000th announcement, love really was in the air! The London Eye is the perfect place for Valentines and has been a part of many a love story since the opening, with couples choosing the moving views of London as the ideal setting to share a memorable moment with their loved one. We have found that many couples come back to join us every year on their anniversary at the place where it all began, so to mark this milestone we have offered Jagan and Natasha a complementary Cupid’s Capsule every year on their anniversary to celebrate.’

The London Eye offers the ultimate romantic setting for this Valentine’s Day, with experiences to set the heart a-flutter including private capsules, Champagne experiences and romantic riverboat dining.
