The light-up this year is in partnership with the London Chinatown Chinese Association (LCCA) to signify the beginning of celebrations by the Chinese community in London and around the world.

To see in the Year of the Dragon the London Eye will light up in the auspicious colours of the New Year - red, believed to bring good fortune, and glowing gold, signifying wealth – shining out over London to wish everyone and their loved ones a prosperous, happy and healthy year ahead.

The Year of the Dragon symbolises good luck, health and strength. People born in the year of the Dragon are believed to possess natural courage, tenacity, and intelligence.

Imran Tauqir, General Manager at the lastminute.com London Eye, said: “We wanted to do something special for the 5 million people worldwide who were born on the 29th of February and offer them the chance to celebrate their quadrennial birthday in true London style – with a trip around the iconic London Eye!

We invite all those born on this lucky day to come down and experience the best view of the city while soaring about the Thames.”
