EA SPORTS FC™ 27: Play It Anywhere

EA SPORTS FC™ 27 has officially reached new heights with Red Bull climber and Olympic gold medalist Toby Roberts, taking gameplay to the skies while abseiling down the London Eye. 

To mark the worldwide launch of EA SPORTS FC 27 on September 25, Toby Roberts abseiled down the structure of one of London's most recognisable landmarks, the London Eye, while playing the latest instalment of the world's game, high above the capital. 

Set against the backdrop of the River Thames, Big Ben and the unmistakable London skyline, the feat was captured via striking video content inspired by FC 27, celebrating the passion fans have for football wherever they are across the globe. 

Not one for faint of heart, the abseil saw the climber swap his regular cliff side comforts for one of the world's most iconic landmarks - yet he still couldn't resist playing a quick game of EA SPORTS FC 27 against football broadcasters Brandon Smith and Jensennotbutton, demonstrating that for football fans, there is no such thing as an ordinary place to play.  

Red Bull athlete Toby Roberts commented: “I've done some pretty crazy things over the years, but hanging off the side of the London Eye while playing EA SPORTS FC 27 is definitely up there. The views over London were incredible, although I spent most of my time trying not to lose concentration and bottle the game. It's a brilliant way to celebrate the launch and I hope people enjoy playing FC 27 just as much as I do.” 

Toby’s FC 27 opponent, Football Broadcaster Brandon Smith, said: “It's not every day you find yourself playing EA SPORTS FC 27 against someone abseiling the side of the London Eye. Once the match kicked off, though, it became surprisingly normal, and that really sums up FC 27. Whether you're on your sofa or 135 metres above London, all that matters is the football.”
