Tips for the Best London River Cruise Experience

Book early to secure your spot, especially on weekends and holidays. Bring wet weather gear if needed, and an extra layer for the river breeze. Morning cruises offer a quieter experience; sunset cruises are perfect for photos. Indoor seating is available, with outdoor decks for the best views — don’t forget your camera!

If visiting both the London Eye and River Cruise on the same day, allow at least 15 minutes between attractions. The River Cruise takes 40 minutes; the London Eye takes 30 minutes. You have 90 days to visit the London Eye after your River Cruise if you prefer to visit on separate days.

The River Thames Cruise is a 40 minute circular tour that starts and stops at the London Eye Pier with no stop-over in between.

Your River Cruise booking time corresponds to the departure time of the cruise. Please arrive at boarding point 2 on the Pier at least 15 minutes before your scheduled River Cruise departure.

Please be aware that the cruise will depart punctually as scheduled, and late arrivals will not be accommodated.

The London Eye River Cruise departs 45 minutes past every hour. For the most up-to-date opening hours, please visit the opening hours page

  • When booking, you’ll be asked to select a River Cruise departure time. Cruises depart at 45 minutes past the hour, and we recommend arriving at the pier at least 15 minutes before departure. Your selected time will appear on your confirmation email or ticket.
  • You can book your London Eye time slot immediately after purchase via our booking portal. You have up to 90 days after your River Cruise to visit the London Eye, we recommend securing your times in advance, as availability can change.

If you're visiting both attractions on the same day, please allow at least 15 minutes between them. The London Eye experience lasts 30 minutes and the River Cruise takes 40 minutes.

The London Eye River Cruise has an indoor seating area operating on a first come first serve basis. Customers can still cruise along the river and enjoy the full experience in the comfort and warmth inside.

Please note that if you miss your cruise or decide to move your time on the day a £10 rebooking fee will apply.
